Constitutional lawyer, Dr
Tunji Abayomi has sued the Senate President and the Speaker of the
House of Representatives to a Federal High Court in Abuja
In his suit filed before the court
the plaintiff Dr Abayomi is asking the court to make certain declarations over
an allegation that the National Assembly illegally injected N53billion into the
2014 Budget estimates submitted before it for consideration by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The plaintiff is also specifically
asking the court to determine whether or not it is within the constitutional
powers of the National Assembly led by the defendants to increase the estimates
of the budget as submitted to the assembly.
He is further seeking the court to
determine whether the National Assembly has the power to tamper with
expenditure or budget heading.
Meanwhile no date has yet been
fixed by the court for hearing of the suit.
